Born outside the Canadian Rockies, I spent my early childhood in the mountains. Some of my oldest memories are of skiing in the East Kootenays and hiking in the foothills of the Rockies. When my family moved to British Columbia’s coast, I explored its rainforests and ocean but the “freedom of hills” always beckoned. The mountains imprinted strongly on me.
